Qiushi Pet founder — from a small town in Linyi to 6 countries worldwide, pouring everything into perfecting every pet bed.
In the spring of 2010, I started from a small workshop in my hometown — Huangshan Town, Luozhuang District, Linyi. Calling it a “workshop” was generous — it was really just a room in my family’s courtyard with one second-hand industrial sewing machine and three local women from the village.
I was just over 30 at the time, with a few years of foreign trade experience under my belt. I noticed that the domestic pet market was just getting started and thought to myself: people in Europe and America treat cats and dogs as family — it’s only a matter of time before China does the same. A soft, sturdy bed is a home for them.
The first year didn’t bring much profit. Then in the second year, an email arrived from a British client — 5,000 cat beds, 30-day deadline. The team and I worked 20 consecutive nights. On the day we loaded the container, we sat by the truck eating boxed lunches. Nobody said a word, but our eyes were bright.
From that year on, the name “Qiushi” began crossing oceans inside shipping containers — UK, France, Germany, USA, Japan, South Korea — order by order. By 2018, we were stably exporting to 6 developed countries.
Many people have asked me: what’s the barrier to entry for making pet beds? The answer is none — buy a few machines, hire a few workers, anyone can do it. But to do it consistently for 16 years, shipping hundreds of thousands of units annually, every single one passing BSCI and ISO certification audits — that’s a much shorter list.
If these 16 years taught me one thing, it’s this: slow is fast. From cutting the fabric to stitching to filling to packaging — off by 1 millimeter, missing 1 step, and the naked eye may not notice. But the pet will. That’s why our workshop has always displayed eight characters: “No cutting corners, no skimping on materials.”
After 16 years in foreign trade, Qiushi products can be found on the shelves of top Amazon sellers, in the living rooms of European and American families, and in the windows of Japanese and Korean pet shops — yet in our own country, most people still haven’t heard the name Qiushi.
So this year, we decided to come home.
With 16 years of accumulated craftsmanship, the cost advantages of our 10,000 sqm factory, and our deep understanding of what “tenderness” means — Qiushi is officially launching in the domestic market. We want to make an equally thoughtful bed for every beloved pet in China.
And we want every partner looking to enter the pet product industry to find a reliable factory in Shandong — without worrying about minimum orders being too large, samples being too slow, or not knowing who to trust.
